...that we have private group health insurance on me and Samantha because Jeremy's is just too expensive at work?
...that the government provides assistance to those who are
1) on medicade
and
2) have private insurance?
...since Samantha turned one, she is no longer eligible for Medicade because we have private insurance?
...she would qualify if I dropped her from my insurance?
Advice? Emphathy?

Key will be what the state of Nebraska requires for Medicaid support in addition to any Federal requirements. You might get lucky and find a wrinkle or loop hole.. If it makes you feel any better, many parents have to make this type of decision....and...the state of our government assistance programs encourages folks to NOT work or get their own insurance because of idiotic rules and regulations.
I had a close friend who had to divorce his wife and make her a ward of the state because he could not afford her Alzheimer's care and treatment. His son never forgave him for it...
Girl, I don't have any advice, but I can empathize. Insurance companies suck. Dealing with anything that has to do wih insurance sucks. Case closed.:) Happy SITS.
You need to look at the coverage levels and providers. Most children are covered by their state's Medicaid program. However, the enrollment guidelines, timelines, and providers may not be what you want. There are a number of phyisicians who refuse to take Medicaid patients b/c of poor payment. Also, the EOBs maybe more difficult to understand. The other thing to consider is that you may be able to deduct the cost of your private health insurance premiums if structured correctly. Email if you want more specific information (I'm a healthcare attorney).
